Consulates rarely cite the real reason for a refusal, and “administrative processing” or a blank denial letter is one of the most common ways people first learn something is flagging their name internationally — often well before they’re ever stopped at a border. A single refusal could mean many things unrelated to INTERPOL; a pattern of refusals across different countries, or a refusal shortly after a dispute abroad, is a stronger signal.

Confirming this yourself is difficult — you have no direct way to query INTERPOL’s system, and consulates won’t tell you either.
